Distinguished managers of residential properties are identified through IREM’s Accredited Residential Manager ARM recognition program. Attainment of the ARM® award is based on achieving high standards in the area of education, experience and commitment to the ARM® Code of Ethics. To achieve the ARM® award, applicants are required to successfully complete an in-depth course on residential site management. The course focuses on proven multi-housing management skills and techniques and provides detailed coverage of such subjects as marketing techniques, analyzing vacancy factors, equal opportunity compliance, budgeting and the selection and management of service contractors.

Accredited Management Organization AMO®

Accredited Management Organization is the only designation awarded to firms by IREM. More than 660 firms in the united States currently hold the designation. AMO® firms are responsible for managing 1.5 million residential units valued at 42 billion and 498 million square feet of commercial property with an estimated value of 34 billion. AMO® firms, recognize that management expertise plays a critical role in enhancing the future value of property. Thus, they must have a CPM® who directs and supervises the firm’s real estate management activity. Further, this CPM® must have completed IREM’s course aimed at developing expertise in running a management company or department. IREM has established a tradition of well-defined financial criteria for attaining AMO® status. Each AMO® firm must undergo an independent financial review and for added client protection must maintain a fidelity bond and depositor’s forgery and alteration’s insurance. AMO® firm headquarters are reviewed by local chapter prior to recommendation to IREM National for consideration.
